UF/IFAS Extension Polk County
Winter Weather Watch
(November - March)
2009-2010 Winter Weather Watch Program
Winter Weather Watch begins on November 15, 2009 and will continue through March 15, 2010. This citrus cold protection and weather program has been offered to Florida citrus growers for over 40 years. The program serves agricultural producers with timely consistent weather information and minimum temperature forecasts recorded on a daily schedule during the winter months. Many growers from various Florida counties participate in this program and consider it a valuable tool in helping to protect crops from freezing temperatures.
The program is designed to provide educational information to growers along with daily weather forecasts to help growers make the best possible cold protection decisions for their operations. The ultimate decision on cold protection rests with you the grower, and the more reliable information you have the better your decisions will be.
Check out the Citrus Agents Website for access to information from all six county extension agents in the State of Florida.
