Nicole Walker - Extension Director and 4-H Youth/Community Development

Brief Description of Programs

4-H kids represent the best of our nation's future leaders, community members, and workforce. Based on the Experiential Learning Model, kids and youth ages 5-18 explore their own interests and grow in their senses of Belonging, Mastery, Generosity, and Independence. 4-H members have the opportunity to learn and develop essential life skills through numerous project areas; make new friends through 4-H meetings, events, camps and other activities; develop leadership and public speaking skills; and explore subjects that may lead to future careers.

Community Development in Extension is the business of providing support to people and communities for active participation in creating a meaningful future and dealing with community issues. Programs in this area include facilitation, assisting communities with non-profit organization formation, hosting discussions, particularly for tense or difficult topics, and leadership training for community members.
