Polk County Master Gardeners

Master Gardeners provide the public with research-based information on gardening and landscaping. How can we help you?

Master Gardener activities include but are not limited to: teaching classes both to adults and children, writing newspaper article, staffing the plant clinic, where residences may get answers to their questions and issues, the creation and maintenance this web site, teaching worm farming and composting, designing and maintaining demonstration gardens so the public can see plants that grow well here and get ideas on good landscaping.

Interested in becomming a Master Gardener?  The next Master Gardener training class will begin on Thursday January 5, 2017 and end March 2, 2017. Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Click for Application forms and more information.

Plant Clinic

Having difficulty with your garden? Don't know what kind of insects are attacking your plants? Check with Master Gerdeners for solutions to problems such as insect and disease identification, plant identitifcation, soil pH testing and more.  We are trained specifically to help and are available at no charge. Fall Plant Sale – Saturday October 8, 2016

The fall plant will be held at the Lakeland City Nursery from 9 AM – 1 PM. The nursery is at 4610 US Highway 98 S between Lakeland and Bartow. The entrance to the sale is through the Oak Hill Burial Park/Cemetery. Many different plants will be available including Butterfly and Hummingbird plants, Florida Natives, Groundcovers and Ornamentals for both Full Sun and Shade.
